- Set the cadence at quote acceptance: “We’ll send a brief status every Tuesday and Thursday.”

Handle Expedite Requests Without Breaking the Schedule
Every shop gets the “can you pull this in?” call. Saying yes to everything destroys credibility for everyone.
Create a visible expedite policy:
- Define surge capacity (e.g., one machine shift per week reserved for true emergencies).
- Charge a transparent expedite fee that covers overtime and schedule disruption.
- Require written approval so the cost and trade-off are documented.
